When Hannah and Hugh chose Old Sessions House for their wedding, they envisioned a stylish, welcoming celebration that felt as personal as it was elevated. With friends and family flying in from across the UK and Australia, the day needed to feel effortless, warm, and full of intention — and I was honoured to help bring it all to life.
The day began with a heartfelt ceremony at The Charterhouse, a peaceful and historic setting tucked away in the heart of Clerkenwell. Hannah walked down the aisle with her parents to a live rendition of Can’t Help Falling in Love, surrounded by candlelight and the soft scent of summer florals by Botanics. As they exited to Aretha Franklin’s You Send Me, guests tossed confetti in the courtyard, before walking over to the reception at Old Sessions House.
Inside, the spaces were reimagined to reflect the couple’s love of good food, good wine, and thoughtful design. Dinner Ladies created a dining experience that felt more like an elevated dinner party than a traditional wedding breakfast — shared plates, beautiful plating, and flowing wine set the tone. The drinks reception took place beneath the venue’s iconic skylight staircase, where champagne and canapés were served to a curated playlist, with mocktails and natural wines also available at the bar.
Upstairs, the Great Room was transformed with soft linen drapes, natural textures, and candlelit tables. Botanics dressed the space with relaxed, sculptural arrangements that complemented the architecture without overpowering it — a considered balance of form and feeling. Menus were tucked under hand-folded linen napkins, and a personal green room (stocked with Diet Coke and snacks, naturally) gave the couple a moment of calm in between.
The speeches were funny, moving, and perfectly timed — leading into a Soju toast and a high-energy first dance, as Function Republic took to the stage and the dancefloor came alive. As evening guests arrived, cocktails flowed from the BLNCD bar, and the team flipped the space for dancing beneath the frescoed ceilings. Late-night food kept energy levels high, with crisp fries and spicy fried chicken bites served before the bar closed at 1:30am.
Hannah and Hugh’s wedding was a celebration of love, family, and all the little things that make a day unforgettable. Personal, relaxed, and deeply stylish — it was everything they’d hoped for and more.
