Overview
Alexa and Vincent's wedding was a day of two colour stories — and the quiet work of letting both breathe.
The morning began with heirlooms laid out on stone and double-happiness papers in the windows, honouring the couple's Chinese traditions before a single flower went up. By the afternoon, the staircase had disappeared under blush and cream — the ceremony was held halfway up the steps, under the arched window, with the florals climbing the balustrade around them.
Dinner moved into a limewashed room lit by candlelight and a single chandelier — a sweetheart table by the arched window, nothing in the room it didn't need. And then the palette turned one last time: Alexa re-emerged in a red silk qipao, and the evening belonged to it.
Two families, two traditions, one day that held both without ever raising its voice. That balance — getting the order right so the design does the talking — is the part of planning I love most.

the details
A Morning of Tradition
The day opened quietly: red double-happiness decals on the glass, heirloom pieces laid out, the family rituals given their own unhurried space before the Western ceremony began.
A Ceremony on the Staircase
Rather than a conventional ceremony room, Alexa and Vincent married on the staircase itself — vows exchanged halfway up the steps beneath the arched window, with blush and cream florals laid the full length of the balustrade.
Portraits in the Quiet Hour
While guests enjoyed canapés from brass trays, we kept the staircase clear for portraits — the veil spread across the steps, the train down the stairs, the light doing exactly what we'd planned for it to do.
A Candlelit Dinner
Dinner was intentionally pared back: a limewashed room, one chandelier, candlelight down the tables and a sweetheart table set beneath the window. When the room is right, restraint is the design.
The Red Qipao
As evening fell, Alexa changed into a red silk qipao — the traditional colour of luck and joy — and the whole day's palette pivoted around her. The last frames of the night are her on those same steps, in red.
