old sessions house / St Etheldreda’s Church
25.10.2025
Overview
A modern London wedding rooted in atmosphere, timing, and strong visual moments. Charlotte and Mikey’s celebration moved seamlessly from a historic church ceremony to a layered, candlelit reception at Old Sessions House — building energy gradually before unfolding into an unforgettable evening party.
Every part of the day was designed to feel intentional yet effortless, balancing structure with spontaneity and allowing guests to experience the celebration as it naturally evolved.

the details
Charlotte and Mikey wanted a wedding that felt stylish, social, and confident — without being overly formal or staged. While the ceremony honoured tradition at St Etheldreda’s Church, the reception needed to feel relaxed, warm, and full of momentum.
The challenge was to create a clear sense of flow across the day: managing guest movement, building atmosphere, and ensuring each moment felt distinct while still connected to the whole.
Events by James led the planning and coordination of the day, overseeing the transition between ceremony and reception and shaping the rhythm of the celebration from start to finish.
Key elements of our approach included:
→ Coordinating a central London church ceremony followed by a smooth guest transition to Old Sessions House
→ Designing a drinks reception that immediately set the tone, with champagne trays, layered florals, and relaxed guest flow
→ Managing a thoughtfully paced dinner in the Great Room, with speeches interwoven to maintain energy and intimacy
→ Delivering a seamless room turnaround, allowing the evening to shift naturally from dining into dancing
→ Creating standout moments — from cake cutting at the staircase to a full-room group photograph — that felt organic rather than performative
Throughout the day, the focus remained on atmosphere and experience, ensuring guests always felt guided without ever feeling managed.
