Southwark Cathedral / Old Sessions House
28.02.2026
Overview
Danielle and Sam’s wedding was everything a London celebration should be, iconic locations, seamless guest movement across the city, incredible music, and a dance floor that lasted well into the night.
The day began at The Ned, before guests gathered for a ceremony at Southwark Cathedral, one of London’s most historic churches. From there, vintage Routemaster buses carried everyone through the city to Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell, where the reception unfolded across its dramatic Georgian interiors.
With 120 guests and a schedule spanning multiple London landmarks, the focus of the planning was simple: create a day that felt effortless for guests while delivering a stylish, high-energy celebration for Danielle and Sam.
As a London wedding planner, these are the moments I love most — orchestrating the movement of a wedding across the city while making it feel smooth, relaxed and full of joy.

the details
A Ceremony at Southwark Cathedral
Danielle and Sam exchanged vows at Southwark Cathedral, a breathtaking setting filled with centuries of history. Danielle was walked down the aisle by her brother in a heartfelt Anglican ceremony surrounded by family and friends. After the ceremony, guests gathered on the cathedral steps for a joyful confetti moment before the celebrations continued across London.
Vintage Routemaster Buses Through the City
One of the most memorable moments of the day came immediately after the ceremony, when guests boarded two vintage Routemaster buses waiting outside the cathedral. These iconic red buses transported everyone across London to Clerkenwell, turning the journey itself into part of the celebration. Meanwhile, Danielle and Sam travelled separately in a classic white London taxi, enjoying a few quiet moments together before arriving at the reception.
Old Sessions House: One of London’s Most Characterful Wedding Venues
The reception took place at Old Sessions House, a beautifully restored Georgian courthouse in Clerkenwell. Its sweeping staircase, dramatic rooms and historic architecture make it one of the most unique wedding venues in London. Guests arrived for drinks on the grand staircase before Danielle and Sam made an effortless entrance into the celebrations.
Dinner, Speeches and Live Music
Dinner took place in the venue’s stunning Great Room, where long tables were set for a lively shared meal. Throughout dinner, live music created a relaxed atmosphere while heartfelt speeches brought both laughter and tears from the room. The evening flowed naturally from dinner into the next chapter of the celebration.
The Lounge Reveal and Evening Party
Following dinner, guests were invited downstairs where the evening lounge had been transformed for the party. Cocktails were served, a dessert station opened, and the music began to build. Danielle and Sam’s first dance to “Dancing on the Ceiling” by Lionel Richie immediately filled the dance floor, setting the tone for the night ahead. With DJ, live saxophone and a packed dance floor, the celebration continued late into the night, with late-night food keeping everyone fuelled for the party.
