old sessions house
13.09.2025
Overview
A refined London celebration at Old Sessions House, designed to feel personal, immersive, and entirely true to the couple. From the outset, the intention was clear: this would not feel like a traditional wedding, but a celebration shaped solely around Emily and Simon — their tastes, their rhythm, and how they wanted the day to unfold.
Layered spaces, thoughtful design, and a strong focus on guest flow allowed the event to move seamlessly from ceremony through to late-night dancing, balancing editorial impact with warmth and ease.

the details
From day one, Emily and Simon were clear that they wanted a day that didn’t feel like a wedding in the expected sense. Every decision was made intentionally, with no obligation to tradition — only what felt right for them.
The challenge was to translate that clarity into a cohesive experience across Old Sessions House: creating a sense of progression without formality, atmosphere without excess, and intimacy at every stage, while still delivering a confident, design-led celebration.
Events by James led the planning process from concept through to delivery, overseeing every layer of the event — from spatial planning and supplier coordination to guest journey and service flow.
Key considerations included:
→ A ceremony staged on the iconic staircase, framed with meadow florals and urn arrangements
→ A fluid transition from ceremony to rooftop drinks, allowing guests to move naturally through the building
→ A long-form, service-led dining experience in the Studio, featuring a six-course menu, butter candle moment, and dessert trolley
→ A dramatic evening reveal in the Great Room, with red draping, chandeliers, and a late-night party atmosphere
Operationally, the day was tightly managed behind the scenes — allowing the experience itself to feel calm, controlled, and effortless for both guests and the couple.
