two temple place
12.11.2025
Overview
An intimate showcase dinner designed to explore how scale, restraint, and confident spatial planning can transform a grand historic room. Hosted at Two Temple Place for 25 guests, the event reimagined a space typically set for over 120 — proving that intimacy at scale is achieved through intention, not density.
Rather than filling the room for effect, the design focused on balance, flow, and atmosphere, creating a considered, editorial experience that allowed architecture, furniture, and florals to stand independently and breathe.

the details
The aim was to demonstrate how a large, formal venue could feel warm, sociable, and immersive for a smaller guest count — without losing impact or presence.
The challenge lay in avoiding visual emptiness while resisting unnecessary layers. Every element needed to earn its place, read clearly within the space, and contribute to the overall narrative without disappearing into the volume of the room.
Events by James led the design concept and spatial planning for the showcase, with a focus on proportion, guest experience, and visual rhythm.
Our role included:
→ Developing the overall design direction and spatial layout
→ Introducing a serpentine table configuration to anchor the room and guide guest flow
→ Seating guests around the perimeter to maintain intimacy while celebrating the scale of the venue
→ Layering negative space with draped linens, plinths, and sculptural floral moments
→ Ensuring each design element could stand alone without visual noise or overcrowding
The result was a layout that felt deliberate, calm, and confident — editorial in feel, but grounded in guest comfort and experience.
